First Annual Honors in Action Academy

Date: September 23 - 26

Location: Marymount University

Registration: $100 per person (Each chapter receives one free scholarship. Register by sending email to Robin Rich-Coates,
rrich-coates@es.vccs.eduwith chapter name and names of those attending September 15th.)

Hotel: Comfort Inn (reservations by September 3rd, call 1-703-247-3399 and use group name Phi Theta Kappa, and/or the group number 3559)

Seminar Groups: If you are interested in serving as a seminar group facilitator and haven't already contacted Robin Rich-Coates, please send her a note. We need a few more.

Events: On Thursday night, there will be a fellowship and each chapter is asked to participate. Each chapter will choose an invention/discovery or an event that relates to "The Democratization of Information" and prepare a table with displays, costumes, food, games…whatever(be creative!). Iideas for inventions include the cave paintings, the telephone, the Internet, and the printing press. Some events are the first televised presidential debates, the radio airing of "The War of the Worlds" that caused panic in the streets, and the use of social networking to let the world know about the uprising in Iran.
